History of In The Upper Room Ministries (ITURM)

ITURM Baptist Church was founded by Pastor David Maurice Bigsby in 2004. It was originally located at 760 West Holbrook Road in Glenwood, Illinois, and subsequently moved to 17601 Wentworth Avenue in Lansing, Illinois. ITURM is not affiliated with the Upper Room Ministry affiliated with the Methodist Church.

The late Pastor Bigsby was a devout spiritual leader who was an advocate for social justice. He spoke in a soft, humble and comforting manner and his door was always open for anyone who was in need of counseling. He consistently encouraged people to trust in God no matter how much difficulty their situation presented.

Historically, ITURM was always rooted in the charisma of movement and emphasized spiritual growth through prayer, fellowship and teaching. ITURM continues to be dedicated to glorifying God, promoting spiritual growth and encouraging community support through prayer, love and
motivation.

 

The mission core of ITURM is to uphold Christian values by offering support for the community and encouraging believers to lean on God and each other every day. The sustaining mission of ITURM continues to focus on the continuity of faith and support for each other through sincere prayer and unity.

Rev. Maverick Davis, former Associate Pastor at ITURM, was a protege’ of the late Pastor Bigsby. It was Pastor Bigsby’s request that Rev. Davis continues his teachings and, since August 9, 2025, he has been serving as the Senior Pastor.
